How Healing my gut changed my life.

I spent years on my health journey before I realised the importance of gut health. I hope to make this journey for you a lot less time-consuming. It all started when I discovered I had Celiac Disease. I was doing everything right, but I was malnourished, living with daily pain of inflammation and dealing with extreme depression. Taking gluten out of my diet was a big game-changer, but the real results didn't start until I understood gut health.

When you have Celiac disease, your gut gets destroyed. We all have millions of little finger-like projections called villi. These villi are responsible for absorbing nutrients from your food and moving them into your bloodstream. When I ate gluten, my immune system mistakenly thought gluten was dangerous, and instead of attacking the gluten, it attacked my gut lining of my small intestine. That is when the villi become damaged and inflamed.

Not to mention the years of bad diet and drinking that also played a part in destroying my gut. This is when my search for answers started on how to heal my gut. I started by taking the supplement L-glutamine. Imagine the lining of your gut is a brick wall. The bricks are your intestinal cells. The Mortar between the bricks helps keep unwanted substances from leaking through. Your gut lining is constantly replacing old cells with new ones, and L-Glutamine is one of the main fuels those cells use to grow and repair themselves. Next, I increased my fiber intake as well as drinking warm lemon water every morning. But where I really saw an improvement was when I started psyllium husk and bone broth nightly.

Not only was the inflammation gone in my body, but because I was able to absorb nutrition again, my workout recovery was amazing. I also noticed a huge improvement in my mood. No more depression, which has me 100% convinced gut health is connected to mental health. Happy gut, Happy life.

I hope this helps someone who may be struggling and maybe does not understand why. I hope every day you grow on your health journey and reap the benefits of loving yourself.
